If Your Rank Dropped Recently, Consider Getting More Contextual Links
Beginning early this year, certain search engine made some changes to their search ranking, the reason cited is that google wanted to provide more relevant results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, say it another way, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. Google started this change almost one year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, some of the keywords even ranked better than before, it’s almost a sure thing that plain link building loses all it’s attraction, at least in the eye of google.
Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, the content on those sites will never be updated, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, the name of link spamming sites is justified. The latest google update will definitely downgrade most if not all of these sites, all the links on those websites will have the same fate.
Let’s check out a few examples. When I got into online marketing long time ago, I started with this keyword, E Track, it was old way of link building all the way, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Now let’s look at another keyword, chain puller , we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, with very few plain links, the rank for this keyword is making me real happy. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? In fact the only thing matters here is content, when you create unique and quality content, not only people will love to read your stuff, so do the search engines. You may think there are already too many blogs out there, it’s not true, there will never be too many good blogs, take a look at this blog, kaiya eve couture , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, the result? I got nice ranking for a few realy nice keywords now. Now you can see, creating quality content and article marketing is what we have to do to get great result. Now imagine you have your own blog network, for instance Drum Lifter, then it will be easier to do article marketing.
Bottom line is that you should create great content, publish and share with people, and put your keywords in the context you’re good to go, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. Whatever you do, you will need persistence and patience, you shouldn’t expect things to improve overnight, i.e., selling online or improve your search rankings, let’s keep building and maintaining our blogs until end of the day. One of the best articles directories is EzineArticle, a new article will be indexed and cached in less than an hour, of course your posts on some blogs will be indexed real fast as well, let look at some aticles or posts which are published and indexed, Hitch Ball, explains some interesting concepts, nice writing, good content, published on popular site, this article serves it’s purpose well.
By the way, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. One thing you can do for your blogs is to install twitter tools, get a twitter account and API keys, link your blog to twitter, then every new post on your blog will show up in your twitter page, it’s real easy and useful, it’s a big loss if you don’t use this tool.
